Lauren R. McAlpin believes in fighting for her clients in and out of the courtroom. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, McAlpin earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky. Following graduation, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue her legal career. McAlpin graduated at the top of her class at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, where she was an active member of the Black Law Students Association, recipient of numerous academic achievement awards, as well as a competitor, and student coach, for the school’s Moot Court Board.
After graduating law school, McAlpin represented clients in the areas of personal injury, entertainment and transactional law. McAlpin was also a child advocate attorney, representing children in the foster care system in all aspects of their dependency proceedings in Dekalb County Georgia. Through her experiences at the Child Advocacy Center, McAlpin gained experience representing vulnerable populations.
McAlpin believes in the words of Muhammad Ali that “service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” For McAlpin, law is more than a career, it is a calling.
McAlpin relocated to Tennessee with her husband, James, who proudly serves in the United States Armed Forces. As such, McAlpin found The Cochran Firm – Nashville the perfect place to fuse her persistent drive to advocate for underserved populations, with her need to give back to the community for which she represents.
